Kevin used to call it "yapping." Or if he was annoyed, "yammering." Basically it was my constant talking and I do have to admit I probably spoke about 10 words for every one he uttered during our 18 years together. But I always considered Kevin the exception to the rule.
Now a new study shows that in fact men and women talk at about the same rate. As I explained this to my co-worker Brian, I used about 25 words (give or take.) His reply: "yeah, yeah." It was at that moment I realized maybe I'd better find out who paid for the study.
